Climate Change is possibly the biggest threat to life on the planet,
but why are hardly any Muslims taking environmental issues seriously?
Apart from the usual regurgitation of mantras about how Islam has
the solution to all the world's problems and that the Qur'an teaches
us that we are the representatives of Allah (swt) on earth, there's
not much else we do.

These issues will affect us sooner rather than later, but it doesn't
help when we are engrossed in dredging the sea to build silly little
islands, which are then hired out to the very people we begrudge for
invading our lands? What an irony! Have we looked beyond the oil we
sell to fuel our desires for air conditioning systems and SUVs? Have
we ever reflected on why much of the meat we consume is probably not
halal, and that this is primarily because we want to be able to eat
fat greasy "halal" chicken every day, but at haramly low prices?

Let us make a bit of effort to attend this march and learn about
environmental concerns. Let's show that Muslims do really give a
damn about their responsibilities to Allah's other creations.
