IFEES DIRECTOR ADDRESSES UN CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMIT

IFEES founder and Director, Fazlun Khalid, has been invited by the UN Secretary General to participate in the Summit on Climate Change on 22 September 2009 in New York. The Summit aims to mobilise political will and vision through round table discussions with world leaders ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this December.

Fazlun Khalid's statement:
"It hasn’t quite entered the human consciousness, that if planet Earth suffers, we suffer, and that we have nowhere else to go. We are part of an integrated earth and when we reduce the natural world to an exploitable resource this turns inwards on us. How else does one explain the consequences of climate change? Yes, the human species is unique. We have the capacity to observe the world around us, describe what we
see, quantify it and then take advantage of it. However, the most extreme and all pervasive form of this is our collective, unfettered defilement of nature..."
